I’m going to be vulnerable with you. I once lied to a customer to make a sale.
It was a home security sale. We were filling out the paperwork, and they asked me, “Can I cancel this contract if I wanted to?” I looked at them and just said, “Yes, you can”.
Technically, they had a three-day window to cancel. But I knew they were asking about the three-year contract commitment. I walked out of that home, sat on a curb around the corner, and felt terrible. I realized right then: This is not who I am.
In this training, I share the story of how I went back to the house, confessed the lie, and told them the truth. They ripped up the contract, and I lost the deal. But I walked out of that house feeling 10 feet tall.
